PROPER
At the residence of her father--J.L. Custer--in Bonaparte, of consumption, after a brief illness of two months, Mrs. Rachel Ann, wife of Wm. M. Proper aged 27 years, seven months and four days.

How beautiful, how extremely beautiful, had been the morning; the air was pure, the sky was clear, and although a few light and fleecy clouds were silently floating in the morning air they seemed to say: "How pleasant, how easy, how beautiful it would be for your daughter, and your sister's immortal spirit to asscend through the blue heavens above to Him who gave it and hath power to take it away." Yes it was a beautiful morning but dear Rachel did not realize it; she was too far gone. It was evident she must soon take the immortal flight. At a few minutes after twelve o'clock--noon she breathed her last, and thus ended a life which had been spent in the service of the Lord, and in the faithful performance of all duties devolving upon a wife and a mother. At the age of 15 she became a member of the Harrisburg Baptist church, and has ever since followed in the footsteps of her Savior. She passed away without a struggle; a holy expression lit up her countenance, and her face was radiant with divine light.
