**Handwritten: KEO REP 3 MAR 1938

Mrs. Frank A. Farwell

Laura Ann Waggoner, daughter of Isaac and Mary Putman Wggoner(sp), was born and reared in the vicinity of Bloomfield, Iowa, March 22, 1860, being the date of her birth. She died February 23, 1933, at the age of 77 years, 11 months and one day.

She attended school in Bloomfield, fitting herself for a teacher, later going to Pratt County, Kansas, where she taught for a time.

On March 22, 1884, she was married to Frank B. Farwell who had also gone to Pratt county from Scotland county, Missouri. They resided near Iuka, Kansas, for about 12 years, then returned to Scotland county, moving to Granger, Missouri in February, 1896, where they lived for 40 years. They were always interested in and ready to help in any undertaking for the betterment of the community.

Since early youth she had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and was faithful in her attendance at its services. It was not always easy to keep a large family in Sunday school, but they rarely missed a session.

For several years she had been in failing health, and since the death of her husband, two years ago, has been confined to her bed and wheel-chair, with never a murmur or complaint. She spent several months with a daughter in Kennett, Missouri, then returned to spend her remaining days with another daughter in Keosauqua, Iowa.

She leaves six children: Mrs. Mabel Therme of Keosauqua, Iowa, Mrs. Helen Taylor of Kennett, Mo., Mrs. Ruth Dodt of Pittston, Pa., Mrs. Katherine Valentine of Harrisburg, Pa., Seth B. of Bloomfield, Ia., and Ralph W. of Toledo, Ohio; one daughter, Bess, dying in 1925. Several sisters living in the west survive; also 10 grandchildren and one great grandson.

All that faithful ministering hands could do, could not stay the progress of disease, hardening of the arteries, an as eventide came she might well have said:

"The clouds around me thicken, O Saviour, leave me not in waste of night, at evening bring me home."

Her spirit returned to her Heavenly Father, her body to the place of her earthly abode for so many years, as the evening shadows lengthened.

All the children were present for the funeral services, which were conducted by the Rev. F.H. Byrne of the Granger Methodist church on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 25, with burial in the Granger cemetery.
