John Josiah Hall

John Josiah Hall, son of Charles and Hannah Hall, was born Feb. 15, 1853, in Lee county, Iowa, and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John David, at Elvaston, Ill., Aug. 1, 1935, aged 82 years, 5 months and 16 days.

He was married to Miss Elena Atkins Sept. 5, 1880, to which union five children were born: Nellie C., John A., and Dessie June having preceded him in death some years ago. Those surviving him are Charles E. of Wickes, Ark., and Mrs. John David of Elvaston, Ill. Besides these he leaves his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Stewart of Bentonsport, Iowa, and Mrs. M.M. Stewart of Cantril; 4 grandchildren, Delbert Elwood, Keith and Guy.

Mr. Hall united with the M.E. church in Cantril some years ago under the pastorate of Rev. Boydson. His life has been spent in and around Cantril neighborhood. Owing to his advanced years he has recently made his home with his daughter in Elvaston, Ill., where he died.

Funeral service was held in the M.E. church at Cantril Sunday at 2 p.m. by Rev. F.M. James and burial was in the Cantril cemetery by the side of his daughters.

Pallbearers were Walter Miller, George Casady, Louie Magorian, Stanley Stewart and Arthur Smith.
