OBITUARY
Sarah Serena Burlingame was born in Ohio, Jan. 13, 1856, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Humbert, Dodge City, Kansas, on April 16th, 1930, at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 3 days.
On July 13th, 1872, she was united in marriage to David McElroy, who preceded her in death just a year ago. To this union were born five children, H. B. of Burlington, Ed of Roseville, Ill.; Dow of Mendon, Mo.; Mrs. John Humbert, Dodge City, Kansas; Mrs. Grover Hill, Kansas City, Mo. Eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, all of whom survive her.
She united with the Methodist church early in life of which she was still a member. She was a good mother, a good neighbor, always mindful of her children's needs.
She has lived in Milton practically all her life but since the death of her husband she made her home with her two daughters. Thus the passing of another pioneer.
The funeral was held from the home of Bert Humbert in Milton, Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. B. Rayhill. Interment in the Milton Sunnyside cemetery.
