William J. Gould
William J. Gould, the only son of John and Elizabeth Gould, was born Nov. 25, 1867 in Woodstock, Canada. He passed away at his home in Milton June 27, 1936, aged 72 years, 7 months and 2 days.
After coming to Van Buren county to make his home he was united in marriage with Mattie L. Craven Feb. 6, 1890. To this union were born seven children: Harry R. and Helen G. Kays of Ellensburg, Wash.; Lloyd of Milton; Roy of Yakima, Wash.; Vance of Bloomfield; Ross K. of Muscatine and Dorothy at home, who, with their mother survive the passing of a kind and loving father.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. He was a faithful member of the Milton Methodist church, active in the work of the church until health no longer permitted him to attend Divine services.
He also served for a time as a member of the Board of Education and as a member of the Town Council.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Milton, in charge of the Rev. J.C. Caughlin, assisted by the Rev. E.S. Hehner. Interment was in the Milton Sunnyside cemetery.
