Mrs. S. W. McCullough
Rhoda Frances Day, daughter of A. H. and Anna Fox Day was born November 23rd 1864 near Stockport in Van Buren County, Iowa and departed this life in the University of Iowa City on Sunday evening May 27th, 1934.
On October 20th, 1891 she was united in marriage to Samuel W. McCullough of the same neighorhood and the home was made on the McCullough farm until 1901 when they moved to Keosauqua that they might have better educational facilities for the three children who had been born to them.
In August 1918 the family moved to Fairfield where they has since been made.
Her husband passed away six years ago March. She is survived by her three children. The two daughters: Vera F. McCullough and Mrs. Beatrice Wheatley of Fairfield, with who she had a happy home together with the Son-in-law, Chas. E. Wheatley and the little granddaughter, Anna Suela, who was the idol of her heart; her son, Richard Day McCullough of Jacksonville, Florida, his wife sue and two grand children, Betty Frances and Richard Cason McCullough.
She is also survived by three brothers: Dr. Wm. R. Day of Cheyenne, Wyoming, O. L. Day of Pasadena, California and A. H. Day of St. Louis, Missouri. A number of cousins and many friends.
While the home was in Keosauqua she with her family united with the Congregational Church and upon moving to Fairfield the membership was transferred to the First Presbyterian Church of this city.
She had not been in robust health for many years, but had been as well as usual until she was taken suddenly ill just a week before she passed away.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon May 31st at the Hoskins Funeral Home in Fairfield. Dr. Voorhies of the Presbyterian Church in charge. Prof. Melander of Parson's Collegevery beautifully sang "Lead Kindly Light" and "Going Home".
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Casket attendants were: Yates Knerr, Geo. Sturgis, Anderson Pattern, Arthur F. Greef, Albert Sauer and Chas. Israel. Relatives attending from a distance were her son and family from Jacksonville, Florida; Dr. Wm. R. Day of Cheyenne, Wyoming; A. H. Day of St. Louis, Missouri; Mrs. T. C. Day of Ft. Madison; W.W. McCullough of Creston; Geo. T. McCullough of Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. C. G. Miller and Miss Frances Day from Des Moines; Geo. D. Woods of Monmouth, Illinois.
