Mrs. J.W. Beggs

Clara, daughter of John and Anna Park, was born May 22, 1860, in Van Buren county, 3 miles northwest of Pittsburg, on what is now known as the Keegan farm and departed this life at the Osteopathic hospital in Kirksville, Mo., at 12:15 on Tuesday, May 29, 1934, at the age of 74 years and 7 days.

She was the 9th member of a family of 10 children, all of who preceded her in death. Most of her girlhood was spent in her home and with her sisters and brothers helping and caring for them and their families.

On November 16, 1892 she was united in marriage to J.W. Beggs. To this union was born three daughters, Juanita Crawford, of Creswell, Oregon; Wilda, who passed away in 1919, and Lucile Marshall, of Stockport, Iowa. At the time of their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Beggs established their home on the farm where they have since lived.

Mrs. Beggs has been handicapped by poor health and has been a patient sufferer for many years from a large goiter. On Friday, May 25, she went to the hospital where she underwent an operation which was successful, but she was unable to resist the bronchial pneumonia which later developed.

She was a faithful friend to any and all and was especially helpful to neighbors and friends in times of sickness and trouble.

She leaves to mourn her passing, besides her husband and two daughters, six grandchildren; nephews and nieces and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the home Friday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, in charge of the Rev. M.E. Hayes, pastor of the Keosauqua Methodist church. Interment was made in the Pittsburg cemetery.
