George H. Baker

George H. Baker, was born in Detroit, Mich., October 18, 1878, and passed away in Cantril, Iowa, Nov. 22, 1932, age 54 years 1 month and 4 days. At an early age he was left an orphan and was under the care of his grandmother and his older sister, for several years.

He was united in marriage with Mrs. Shirley LeBaron, Dec. 6, 1919. In 1923 they moved to Long Beach, California, where he leaves a host of friends. He was not a member of any church, but was a believer of Christ, and the Bible. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 888, of Long Beach. Early in October of this year, he and Mrs. Baker came to Cantril, to the home of Mrs. Baker's mother and sister, Mrs. Iolia Reed and Mrs. Ruie Casady, hoping that rest and change would bring improvement in his health.

But he gradually grew worse and passed away Tuesday evening. He leaves besides his wife, a daughter by a former marriage, Mrs. Bertha Bishner, of Marine City, Mich.; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Shilling of Marine City, Mrs. Emma Corneilson, of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Edna Payne, of Battle Creek, Mich., and Mrs. Ida Kelly of Greeley, Colo.; one brother, Ed Baker, of Detroit; a niece, Evelyn Wooley, of Detroit, Mich; and a number of other relatives to mourn his passing.

Funeral services was conucted by Elder Shaw, assisted by Rev. H.F. Gilbert, Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Iolia Reed. Mrs. H.F. Gilbert and Elder Shaw sang "Shadows" and "Saved by Grace," with Mrs. H.C. Shaw, at the piano. Burial was in Maple Grove cemetery.

The pallbearers were, William Kisling, Fletcher Wells, Foster Steinburg, Craig Smith, Carl Harrison, and S.H. Daugherity.
