Charles Kisling
Charles W. Kisling, aged 69, passed away at his home five miles south of Cantril at about six o'clock Tuesday, June 9. Although he had been of ill health for some time, death came suddenly following a heart attack.
He was the oldest son of James W. and Laura E. Kisling and was born in Scotland County, Missouri December 28, 1866. Early in life he united with the Christian Church. On January 8, 1891 he was married to Icy Miller who preceded him in death on May 4, 1902. To this union was born one son, Howard Granville. With the exception of about a year that he spent with his son in California, he has lived all of his life in the vicinity of his birth.
Surviving are his son, Howard Granville who resides at Montrose, Calif.; three grand-daughters, Patty, Peggy and Joy; one grandson, Howard, Jr.; one sister, Mrs. S.W. Short of Cantril; another sister, Hattie M., having preceded him in death; five brothers, William A. of Cantril; John L. of Keosauqua; Samuel M. of Snyder, Oklahoma; Benjamin F. of Keosauqua; and Ira W. of Keosauqua.
Funeral services were held at Providence church on Thursday at 2:00 o'clock, and were conducted by Rev. A.M. Hadley. The pallbearers were Walter Rugh, Emil Rugh, Isam Billups, Ott Abernathy, Wm. Kerr and Clark Kerr. Burial was in the Providence cemetery beside his wife.
