Joyce "Nanny" E. Paaske, of Stockport died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at the age of 82, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, after fighting progressive lung cancer. She passed peacefully in her sleep early in the morning. Joyce will be cremated and requested that there be no services.

Joyce was born Jan. 24, 1932, in Stockport, the daughter of Carl and Irene Tomkins. She was united in marriage to Herb Paaske for 40 years. He preceded her in death Aug. 18, 2013.

She enjoyed sitting on the deck and staring out into the countryside with the company of her cat “little girl.” She loved the color blue, and her collection of angels. She always made sure to have enough quarters to play a good game of cards. “Nanny” made sure no one ever went hungry or thirsty, and always had plenty of cheese and crackers.

Joyce is survived by her son, C. “Dennis” Hoaglin, Davenport; daughter-in-law, Linda Hoaglin, Ahwatukee, Ariz.; stepdaughter, Judy (Mark) Miller, Davenport; grandchildren, Jason Willey, Shane (Gina) Hoaglin, Brandon (Stephanie) Hoaglin, Jerad (Shelley) Hoaglin, all of Davenport, and Angie Hoaglin, Ahwatukee; stepgrandsons, Elliot Miller, Colin Miller and Ian Miller, all of Davenport, and Aaron Glover and Todd Glover, Phoenix; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers-in-law, Frank (Cathy) Paaske, Davenport, Ronald Paaske, Hillsdale, Ill., Larry (Sally) Paaske, Greenville, Texas, and Dennis Paaske, Deming, N.M. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Douglas Hoaglin, Ahwatukee.
