Former Keosauqua Resident, 89, Dies in Des Moines on Christmas Day; Buried Here.
Services for Alonza Irish, 89, were conducted beside the grave in Purdom cemetery at Keosauqua Tuesday by the Rev. T. Warren. The body was brought from Des Moines following funeral rites there. Mr. Irish died on Christmas day.
He was born in Van Buren county and was the last survivor of the Irish family. A brother, Edward Irish, prominent lawyer in Keosauqua, preceded him in death a number of years ago.
As a young man, Alonza Irish went to New Mexico and became a silver miner. He spent most of his life in the mining district.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, among them Mrs. Edna Irish Workman of Keosauqua.
