Last Saturday evening a sad mishap befell the family of George Lackey, who lives upon the Eich farm north of our town. His oldest daughter, Grace, aged about twenty years, while lighting a lamp, suffered the accident of having her clothing take fire and was frightfully burned before the flames could be extinguished. The poor girl suffered extremely until Tuesday evening, when death relieved her. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon and interment took place in the Bonaparte cemetery.

Gracie M. Lackey was born March 16, 1880, and died May 22, 1900, being twenty years, two months and six days old. She leaves a father, mother, two brothers and one sister to mourn her loss. She had an affliction when she was an infant which left her a cripple the remainder of her life. She was a kind and loving daughter, bore her trials with patience, and died with a full assurance of a brighter life hereafter.
