John Russell Workman.
John Russell Workman was born in Knox County, Ohio, January 3, 1857, being a son of George and Mary Sapp? Workman. His father and mother both died in Ohio, his mother when he was three days old and his father leaving him an orphan when he was but seven years old. His only brother died in childhood.
John was raised by his step-grandmother, came west when he was sixteen years old, reaching Iowa in 1873. March 23, 1886, he and Miss Anna Laura Preston were married and to them two children were born. Georgia who is at home, and Mrs. Sadie Burns who with the wife and mother are left to mourn the loss of a very dear father. At the time of his death his age was 54 years, 11 months, and 10 days.
Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Burns, Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. T. L. Smith of the Baptist church.
At the time of his death he was employed near Hitt, Mo., but had recently been here fora visit with his family. While here he complained of having a severe cold but his death was quite unexpected. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community.
