December 1962Robert Kessel Dies Suddenly
BIRMINGHAM -- Robert A. Kessel, 54, former Fairfield businessman, died suddenly Thursday at 9:30 p.m. at his farm home, four miles northwest of Birmingham. He had been in failing health for several years.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m at the Weston Behner Funeral home in Fairfield. Rites will be conducted by the Rev. Fr. Francis Henricksen. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham.
Kessel was born Aug. 4, 1908 in Jefferson county, the son of Joseph and Anna Messer Kessel. He was married to Lucille Baldwin April 25, 1932. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of St. Mary Catholic church.
Kessel was engaged in the battery business in Fairfield with his brother, the late Ralph Kessel, for many years. He moved to his present home in 1947.
Surviving are his wife; his mother, Mrs. Joseph Kessel, Fairfield; and two brothers, Victor Kessel, Kansas City, Mo.; and Clarence Kessel, Fairfield.
