OBITUARY

Earl Golden Bestow.

Earl Golden Bestow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bestow, was born in Elroy, Wis., June 24, 1889, and died Jan. 19, 1909. He was book.keeper for Fox and Gooding, Commission merchants in Chicago, from July 1907 to July 1908, from which position he was forced to resign on account of failing health which proved to be diabetes and tuberculosis of the lungs. Doctors gave but little hopes of recovery from the first, yet all was done that seemed might help him — change of climate, hospital care under a specialist, but all to no avail. His death occurred at the home of his parents, where he most loved to be. He gave the assurances to his mother in talks with her that the Savior held his hand and it was all right, yet he longed to stay here to be his parent’s help.

The funeral services were from the Congregational church, Friday, the 22nd, with the sermon by Rev. Breeze. Earl’s school life from nine to eighteen years of age was in the schools of Sparta, where his boyhood friendships were made and four of the pallbearers were from that city, Harold Barker, Harvey Walters, Earl Jefferson and Earl Jones; the others being Lester Hanniwell and Deane Sherman of Elroy.

The friends from away were: Mr. and Mrs. Sol Burdick of La Crosse, cousin, Mrs. Will Frazier of Sparta, Mrs. A. E. White of Bangor, Mrs. I. J. Laird of Lancaster, Mrs. Frank Cox, Mrs. Betow’s aunt, of Woonsocket, S. D., Mr. John O’Brien of Chicago, H. S. Carver and George Sherwood of Reedsburg.

We wish to tender our sincere thanks to the many friends who helped to soothe our sorrows by words or deed, to the male quartet, to the young men of Elroy and others who sent such beautiful floral offerings.

Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Bestow,
Leita Bestow.
