MRS. HAZEL B. FILSON

Mrs. Hazel Belle Filson, 78, of near Birmingham, died Sunday, August 4, at 9:50 p.m. in Jefferson county hospital, Fairfield, after a short illness.

She was born on a farm south of Birmingham March 2, 1896, the daughter of Harley and Lillie Carl. She taught school and was a member of Birmingham Methodist church, East Union Ladies Aid, and the Bonnett Community club. She married Earl Filson June 28, 1916.

Surviving are the husband; three sons, Floyd and Van, Both of Birmingham, Raymond, Stockport; three daughters, Mrs. Esther Cunningham, Mrs. Ruth Carter and Mrs. Lucille Taylor, all of Douds; 15 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Emmer Trout, Eldon.

Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham were in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Filson Dies Sunday

BIRMINGHAM - Mrs. Hazel Belle Filson, 78, died Sunday at 9:50 p.m., at the Jefferson County Hospital following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 2 p.m., at the Birmingham United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in the Mapel Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Burch Funeral Home.

Mrs. Filson was born on a farm south of Birmingham on March 2, 1896, the daughter of Harley and Lillie Carl. She lived her entire life in the Birmingham area. She was a member of the Birmingham United Methodist Church, the Union Ladies Aid and the Bonnett Community Club.

Following her graduation from high school, she taught school in the area. She was married to Earl Filson on June 28, 1916.

Surviving are her husband and six children, Mrs. Larence (Lucille) Taylor and Mrs. Ezra (Esther) Cunningham, both of Douds, Floyd Filson of Birmingham, Raymond Filson of Stockport, Mrs. Fred (Ruth) Carter of Douds and Van Filson of Birmingham, 15 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Emmer Trout of Eldon.

She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two brothers and one sister.

**I extensively research the BONNETT lineage. Earl Filson was the son of Mary Elizabeth BONNETT and William Lincoln FILSON.**
