Martha Laycock was born in England, October 13, 1827, and died in Bonaparte, Iowa February 11, 1899, having attained the age of 71 years, 3 months and 28 days.

Deceased came to this country with her parents when 3 years of age, settling first in Ohio, and came to this vicinity in the fall of 1844. On November 5, 1848 she was united in marriage to Otis Thompson, who, with three little children, preceded her to the heavenly land. She united with the Baptist church early inlive and lived a consistent Christian to the end.

The funeral services occurred from the home of her son, W. O. Thompson; in Bonaparte Monday afternoon and the remains were laid to rest in Thompson cemetery.
