Silas L. Humphrey
Silas L. Humphrey was born on the Humphrey Farm 2 1/2 miles northwest of Lebanon and passed away at the home of his daughter, Ivadell in Cantril January 30, 1950. He was the son of G. B. and Silena Humphrey. He moved to Lebanon with his
parents when a mere lad and received his education at the country school.
On August 18, 1883, he was married to Lotta I. McBride of near Cantril, who died May 5, 1930. To this union was born three daughter: Miss Ivadell, at home; Mrs. Clarence WIley of Douds; Mrs. Chester? Megrath, Ottumwa, Iowa, one son, Cullen S.
Humphrey, Chicago Ill, who died in 1945. He has 15 grandchildren.
He was converted when young and united with the Methodist church at Lebanon. He lived in the Lebanon community until 12 years ago when he and daughter Ivadell, moved to Cantril. he has been in failing health for years and was confined to his
home for two weeks.
He was a kind husband, a loving father, a good neighbor. He loved his home and took great interest in his community. He was a cheerful fellow to meet and will be greatly missed on Cantril street?. He was the last of his family.
