Priscilla G. Elliott

Priscilla G. Huber, daughter of William and Ruth Singer Huber, was born in Winchester, Iowa, on July 17, 1852, and passed away at her home near Keosauqua, Iowa, April 20, 1945, at the age of 92 years, 9 months and 3 days.

At an early age she united with the Methodist church at Winchester and thoughout her lifetime she remained a true and active Christian, ever an influence for good in the home and community.

On May 5, 1879 she was united in marriage to Francis M. Elliott of Winchester, who was engaged in the blacksmith business there for several years. During this time they lived in the house where Mrs. Elliott was born, and in this same house their four children were born: Thad, now residing at La Porte, Colorado, Len of Donnellson, Iowa, Glenn of Cantril, Iowa, and Finley at home.

In 1893 they moved to a farm near Winchester, living there 3 years, after which having purchased a farm near Bentonsport they moved to the present family home where the father passed away in 1934.

On March 29, 1945 Mrs. Elliott suffered a light paralytic stroke from which, owing to her advanced age she never recovered, but passed away 3 weeks later following a severe attack. To the very last her mind was active and alert, and she took a keen interest in all community affairs and world events.

She leaves to mourn her passing four sons, heretofore named: four daughters-in-law, Lulu wife of Thad, Cora wife of Len, Marie wife of Glenn and Bernice wife of Finley; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Bentonsport Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. John S. Ellis officiating. Music was by William Brothers quartet. Interment was in Birmingham cemetery.
