A VERY SAD DEATH

Mrs. Frank Johnston, North of Birmingham, Suddenly Called

A particularly sad death occurred in near Birmingham last Sabbath when Mrs. Mary Johnston suddenly passed away. She had been in poor health for some time, yet it was not thought she was dangerous. Saturday, she was hoeing in the garden, but was not feeling well. Sunday she was taken with a hemorage of the lungs. The doctor was called, but before he could get there she passed away. Mrs. Johnston was 36 years of age and was the wife of S.F. Johnston, a son of M.G. Johnston, noth of town. They were relatives of the Johnston families living near Stockport and Utica. She was a woman universally respected and honored for her many good qualities of heart and mind.

The sad feature of her death was leaving five small children, the youngest being only 3 years of age. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.P. Cummins, who spoke feelingly of those five children who were left motherless and with no one who could possibly take her place. It was the largest funeral held in Birmingham in a long time.
