"Business houses in Pine Bluffs closed their doors Monday afternoon during funeral services for Greeley Oneal, who died early Saturday morning at the N.A. Clarke home in this city following a paralytic stroke which he suffered on Wednesday evening of last week.

The 75-year-old town clerk and former business man of Pine Bluffs had just arrived home from the Johnson Hardware, where he maintained his office, and had stooped over to pick up the evening paper which he had dropped as he attempted to lay it on a table, when he was stricken. He continued to grow weaker until the end came Saturday morning.

Final rites were held Monday from the Community Methodist church here with the Rev. Samuel Grove officiating. Burial was in the Pine Bluffs cemetery. Pallbearers were N.E. Clarke, Harold Johnson, Doris Mercer, C.A. Wilhelm, Ralph Shipp and Ray Graham.

Horace Greeley Oneal was born August 14, 1863, in Davis county, Iowa. He came to Wyoming from Sylvia, Kansas, in 1916, and farmed for several years with J.H. Jones and Herbert Ray about eight miles south of this city.

Coming to Pine Bluffs in 192? he soon afterwards became associated with Claude Hall in the operation of the Men's Toggery here, and later operated the business himself until about two years ago.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Iowa Sell, of Milton, Iowa. Another daughter and one son preceded him in death.

Greeley, as he was affectionately known by old and young alike, suffered a severe stroke in January five years ago, and never regained the use of left side. Notwithstanding his affliction , he was more than ordinarily cheerful and always had a kind word for . . . at his desk . . . pride in his . . . which office . . . (parts missing)
