MRS. LENA PLOSS
Lena Weiss Ploss was born in Baden, Germany, January 25, 1877, and departed this life at the St. Joseph hospital in Ottumwa, Iowa, March 12, 1946, at the age of 60 years, 1 month, 17 days.
At the age of 14 she came to the United States, becoming a citizen soon after.
In January, 1895, she was united in marriage to Henry Ploss. To this union four children were born. They established a home in the White Elm rommunity(community) west of Selma, where they lived for over forty years.
She leaves to mourn her departure, three daughters, Mrs. Noble Plowman, Mrs. Delber(t) Plowman and Mrs. Mark Parsons; four grandchildren, Wayne, Shirley and Melvin Ploss and Merrill Parsons, her three sons in law and a host of loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1935 and a son Fred in 1928.
Funeral services were held at St. Aloysius church in Eldon on Thursday, March 14, 1946, at 10:30 a.m. in charge of the Rev. William V. Snell. Interment was at the Calvary cemetery at Eldon.

**Handwritten: Mar 46ELDON.-Mrs. Lena Ploss, 69, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Joseph hospital in Ottumwa.
She was the daughter of John and Caroline Weiss and was born January 25, 1877, in Baden, Germany. She was married in Troy in 1894 to Henry Ploss, who died in 1935. She spent most of her life in the Eldon community.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lillie Plowman and Mrs. Anna Plowman of Douds and Mrs. Agnes Parsons of Selma. A son preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Aloysis(sp) Catholic church here, in charge of the Rev. James Snell. Burial will be in the Eldon Catholic cemetery.
