FLIGHT OFFICER ALBERT L. HARWARD'S RITES WERE HELD SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3

Milton - Funeral service for Flight Officer Albert L. Harward, 24, were held at the Christian church Sunday, October 3, with the Rev. W.W. Coverdale officiating. Military honors were in charge of the Russell-Strait American Legion Post No. 483. The body was taken to Camp Butler National Cemetery at Springfield for burial Monday.

Albert L. Harward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Harward, was born June 1, 1924, near Douds, Iowa, and died December 21, 1945. He attended school at Milton and was graduated with the class of 1941. Enlisting in the United States Air Corps in November, 1942, he received his pilot wings at Williams Field, Phoenix, Arizona, and was graduated as a pursuit pilot.

On November 25, 1944, he was united in marriage to Miss Vivienne Holloway at Chico, Calif. In May, 1945, he left for overseas duty in the Alaskan Region and was transferred to near Anchorage, Alaska. A plane crash took his lie while on routine flight December 21, 1945, and temporary burial was made in the Ft. Richardson cemetery with military honors.

He is survived by his wife and son, Alan Lee of Jacksonville, Ill.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Harward; two brothers, Carl and John; five sisters, Roberta, Mrs. Ed Conner of Milton; Mrs. Norbert Cormier of South San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Robert Giunn and Mrs. Donald Hunter, both of Bloomfield. He was preceded in death by one sister, Genvieve, in 1934.
