W.B. STRAIT
**Handwritten: 47

Warren Bing Strait, son of Samuel and Cordelia Hitchcock Strait, was born near Rehoboth, Perry County, Ohio, November 20, 1856, and passed away in Des Moines, August 24, 1947, at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 4 days.

Mr. Strait, the last of six children came to Van Buren County with his parents when a young man and with the exception of about the past four years when he made his home in Des Moines, had lived here ever since.

On March 11, 1886, he was united in marriage to May Storts, who preceded him in death September 21, 1943.

To this union were born three children, Victor Glenn of Ottumwa, Ora M. Mize and Bessie E. Kiefer, both of Des Moines; seven grandsons; Merne(?) Strait of Keosauqua, Keith, Donald and Warren of Cedar Rapids, Clair of Ottumwa and Robert in the service in Korea and Harold Holbert of Cambridge City, Indiana and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous other relatives.

Mr. Strait followed the occupation of a farmer and in his last years took much interest in his garden. He was a member of the Methodist Church, a kind and indulgent father, friendly and respected. "He is not gone-he is just away."

The funeral was held at the Brown Funeral Home in Milton last Tuesday afternoon, with interment in the Milton Sunnyside cemetery.
