L.M. BENNETT
Lawrence Monroe Bennett, son of William and Harriett Bennett, was born July 20, 1859, at Monterey, Davis county, Iowa, and departed this life, Dec. 25, 1859, at Monterey, Davis county, Iowa, and departed this life, Dec. 25, 1943, at his home near Douds at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 5 days. He spent the greater part of his life in Van Buren county.
He was united in marriage to Rachel Arbaugh March 17, 1879, and to this union five children were born, Frankie, Lester, Glena, Delena and Millard.
Those who preceded him in death were his wife and three daughters, Delena, Glena and Frankie. He leaves to mourn his death his sons, Lester of Douds and Millard of Houston, Texas, also nine grandchildren. Four brothers, S.M. of Lyons, Kansas, J.H. of Beulah, Colo., O.S. of Colorado Springs, Colo., and George of Bloomfield, Iowa; one sister, Ellen Coleman of Beulah, Colo., and two half sisters, Myrtle Farrell of Lancaster, Mo., and Ruby Hamilton of Waterloo, Iowa, and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at the Pedrick funeral home in Douds on Monday afternoon, Dec. 27, with Rev. J.C. Austin in charge. Interment was in Zion Lutheran cemetery.
