Douds Woman Commits Suicide

Early Monday morning of this week Mrs. Henry Staubus of Douds discovered the dead body of her near neighbor Mrs. Morrow, widow of the late Sylvanus Morrow, suspended at the end of a rope around her neck in her woodhouse. Mrs. Staubus gave hurried notice of the tragedy and Coroner H.A. Burnett of Keosauqua was called to the sad scene, but decided that no inquest was necessary, and the body was taken to the undertaking parlors of W.W. Campbell.

Ill health, despondency and worry over the settlement for her husband's estate are claimed to be the causes that incited the rash deed. The victim had left written instructions as to the disposition of her personal property, which indicates that the tragedy was premeditated.

The date of the funeral is awaiting the arrival of a son who is expected Wednesday evening.
