Carrie Manley dies at 72

Carrie Manley, 72, of 907 S. Seventh St., died at 8:10 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson County Hospital.

She was born May 29, 1915, in Corsica, S.D., the daughter of Abraham and Cornelia Leyden Goemaat. She married Harold H. Manley, Feb. 28, 1940, in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death in 1978.

Manley was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Jefferson County.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Linda Manley, Danville; one sister, Daisy Richey, Fremont, Calif.; and one brother, Boss Goemaat, Birmingham. Also surviving are two grandsons.

Funeral services for Manley will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil Campbell officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Family visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Tuesday with the casket closed before the service.

Memorials for wildlife conservation may be made to the Jefferson County Park.
