Death of Mrs. Maria Sayers.

Hannah Maria Hodges was born Oct. 6, 1817, in Monroe county, N.Y. She was married April 17, 1839, to B.F. Hamlin. To them were born three children, Horace A., Charlotte A. and John H. Charlotte died on Jan. 2, 1842. They moved to Iowa in Oct. 1852. Her husband, B.F. Hamlin, died the 18th of April, 1857.

In 1863 she married James Sayers who died Oct., 1882.

Mrs. Sayers united with the Baptist Missionary church in Bonaparte in 1864, being a charter member of the Harrisburg church. She came to reside with H.A. Hamlin in 1882 and has made her home with them except five years she spent in Nebraska.

Her death was very sudden. She was preparing to go to Mt. Pleasant to make her home with her youngest son, when on Saturday evening at 6:30 she was suddenly stricken unconscious and died at 10:35 the same evening.

Always a kind and faithful wife and loving mother. She leaves many friends who sorrow with her relatives. Two sons and their families beside two step-children and many grand children and great grand children survive her.

Funeral services were held at the residence of her son, Horrace A. Hamlin, on Monday afternoon by Rev. W.H. Scofield after which the remains were tenderly reposed in the Bonaparte cemetery.
