DOUDS - Ezra L. Cunningham, 71, of Douds, died at 10:47 a.m. Friday, June 21, 1991, at Jefferson County Hospital.
He was born July 25, 1919, at Farson, the son of Robert Joseph and Nellie McKinley Eller Cunningham. He grew up near Batavia and attended rural schools. A retired farmer, Cunningham had been a resident of the Birmingham and Douds communities for the past 45 years.
He served in the United States Army in the European-African Theaters during World War II. He was a member of the Bonnett Community Club.
Cunningham married Esther L. Filson Jan. 10, 1942, at Kahoka, Mo.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Edward Cunningham of Fairfield, and Allen Cunningham and Keith Cunningham of Douds; one daughter, Linda Cunningham of Douds; three grandchildren; two brothers, Dallas Cunningham of Ottumwa and Marvin Cunningham of Graterford, Penn.; and one sister, Areal Bates of Silvis Heights, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham, the Rev. David Kennedy and the Rev. Mike Mosier officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Nelson Nursing Home activity fund or the Birmingham First Responders.
