Daniel Crawford

Daniel Crawford was born in Carl county, Ohio, February 2, 1826, and died at Bentonsport on January 8, 1902. Mr. Crawford was married to Celesta Hart in 1847. To this union eleven children were born. Seven of them are living. Mr. Crawford moved from Ohio to Van Buren county in 1847 where he resided until 1859. From here he moved to Missouri and back again to Iowa. In 1861 he enlisted in the 36th regiment of Iowa Infantry. After giving three years of faithful service to his country he was discharged, since which time he resided alternately in Missouri and Iowa, until 1882 when he finally located in Bentonsport until he died. Mr. Crawford was painfully afflicted. He suffered greatly. He was a good citizen, much beloved by his relatives and friends, and highly respected by the citizens of Bentonsport and the community at large. His funeral took place January 10. Services were conducted at the home of Rev. R. Collier and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Bentonsport.
