Rites Tuesday for L. Taylor

Lawrence W. Taylor, who formerly lived at 311 W. Washington St., Fairfield, died at 11:28 a.m. Saturday at the River Hills Care Center in Ottumwa where he had been a resident for the past five days.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Responders in Birmingham.

Lawrence W. Taylor, 77, was born Oct. 25, 1906, in Van Buren County. He was the son of George and Ollie Catcott Taylor. He was married to Lucille V. Filson March 16, 1940, in Birmingham. She survives.

He had lived most of his life in Van Buren County and farmed west of Birmingham until 1978 when he retired and moved to Fairfield.

In addition to his widow Taylor is survived by two sons: Larry Taylor, New London and Lloyd Taylor, Birmingham; two grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Kracht, Fairfield, and a brother, John Taylor, Keosauqua.
