Catharine L. Hill was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, Jan. 26, 1849. She was married to Charles L. Dorson in Lee county, Iowa, Dec. 26, 1867. Seven children were born to this union, six of whom are living. Harry, the eldest, died the 30th of last October. Although consumption had marked her for its victim, yet since the death of her son her decline has been more marked but the loving care and solicitude of family and friends could not lengthen her life. During all her sickness and suffering no murmur passed her lips, but she was ever patient and cheerful for the dear home circle. During the pastorate of Rev. Belknap she united with the Congregational church, and remained a faithful and consistent member until her death. Mrs. Dorson passed away peacefully and trustfully in the early morning of Jan. 25th , 1901, leaving a husband, five sons, one daughter, also a sister and a half brother to mourn their loss. Mrs. Dorson left a great legacy to her relatives and friends-a noble character. The funeral took place from the Presbyterian church, Rev. W.R. Rolingson of the M.E. church conducting the service. The body was laid to rest in the Bentonsport cemetery followed by a large number of sorrowing friends.
