Elizabeth Ann Meek, daughter of Robert and Mary Ann Meek, was born in Bonaparte, Ia., July 6, 1839. She was married to Joseph Saunders, April 8, 1854. To this union eight children were born, five sons and three daughters. One daughter and two sons have departed this life. She has lived in this vicinity all her life and has gathered about her many friends, who, with her husband, three sons, two daughters, one sister and five brothers lament her sudden departure. She was a member of the Presbyterian chuach(sp), having united with it on Feb. 7, 1897 and remained a faithful Christian.
