MISS ELIZABETH LEFFLER.

Miss Elizabeth Leffler was born in Harrisburg township, Van Buren county, Iowa, May 16, 1840, and died after a lingering illness at the Story home in Vernon township on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 1910, aged 70 years, 3 months and 14 days. The funeral was held at the Story chapel on Thursday, September 1, 1910, at 10 o'clock a.m., Rev. Hanson of Bonaparte officiating and the body was laid to rest in the Bentonsport cemetery.

She was the oldest child of Mansuit and Irene Leffler and with the exception of a few months spent in California with her brother Dr. John Leffler, she always resided in this county. She leaves of her family to mourn her death three brothers, Dr. John Leffler of Oakland, California, James and Andrew Leffler, well known citizens of this county, and two sisters, Mrs. Linda Story, wife of John Story of Vernon township and Mrs. Mary Morris, wife of Edmon Morris, who resides on the old Morris farm in Washington township.

After her sister, Miss Julia Perkins' death in 1908, Miss Elizabeth, being alone, was forced to break up the old home, and since then has lived with her brothers and sisters in this county and with her sister-in-law Mrs. Ettie Leffler of Bonaparte. She was a member of the United Brethern denomination, but after the organization in her vicinity was discontinued, she did not join another church, but always remained steadfast in her faith in christianity.

Some twelve years ago she had a severe attack of inflammatoroy rhuematism of which she has never been free from since, and was a great sufferer from it and it was the cause of her demise. She was a noble woman, unselfish and self-sacrificing in her home life and in her intercourse with her neighbors. She was a good nurse and brought sunshine and rest into the sick room and never failed to respond when called to the sick room of either relatives or neighbors. A remembrance of her many kind, unselfish and noble deeds will live long in the hearts of her many friends.
