Nancy O. Stemple

Nancy Ourilla Stemple was born April 13, 1856 and died Sept. 16, 1909, being at the time of her death 53 yrs, 6 months and 3 days.

She was born on a farm near Vernon, Iowa and lived there until 3 yrs. of age when her parents moved to Vernon, Iowa, where she resided until 3 yrs. ago. At this time she, with her family moved to Kirksville, Mo. where she resided at the time of her death. She united with the M.E. Church at Vernon in Dec. 1876 during the pastorage of Rev. Wright and continued an active and faithful member of the same until her death.

She was united in marriage to John Ehrman, March 25, 1875. To them were born 6 children, 2 dying in infancy. She leaves to mourn the loss of a faithful wife and tender, loving mother, he husband, 4 children, 1 grandson, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters, besides many other relatives and friends.

The children are Harry, Frances, and Willie, and Mrs. Louise Roach. All are residents of Kirsville and were permitted to be with the mother during her last illness. She was sick about 3 weeks and all that loving care and medical skill could do was done but it availed not. The Father called, and she was ready. She was always cheerful, ready to do for others, and many will miss her, especially at Vernon where she passed so many years of her life.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Druse at the Vernon M.E. Church Saturday Sept 18 at 2 p.m. after which the remains were laid to rest in Vernon Cemetery.
