MRS. JEFF BEER.

Deborah Griffith, the subject of this funeral occasion, was born in Ohio, February 18, 1833, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Taylor at Eldon, Iowa, Feb. 26, 1907, aged 74 years and 8 days. She was married to T.J. Beer in 1853. Of this union 6 children were born, 4 daughters and 2 sons, one daughter having died in infancy. She united with the M.E. church when 15 years of age, and lived a consistent christian ever since. But since she has been making her home with her daughter Mrs. Taylor, she was as long as her health permitted, a regular attendant at the services conducted by the Christian church of Eldon. Some of the writer's most pleasant memories are, and will be associated with his acquaintance with Grandma Beer as she was permitted to make her home just across the street from the humble place of worship where the writer has been permitted to minister to the people in spiritual things for more than three years. But she is gone; death has claimed her, and although we will miss her, yet we should console ourselves with the thought that her sufferings are over and that a happy welcome awaited her in heaven. After a short service at the home of her daughter Mrs. Wm. Taylor of Eldon, her body was taken to Keosauqua, Feb. 26, where the funeral proper was conducted at the Christian church by S.K. Coats of Eldon, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Purdom graveyard.
