Miss Elizabeth Patterson, the beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Patterson of near Bentonsport, Iowa, was born December 13, 1882, and died of consumption at the home of her parents at 3:45 o'clock, Thursday morning, October 23, 1902, aged 19 years 10 months and 11 days. She was the second child of a family of a family of four children. The father, mother, one sister and two brothers and a large circle of relatives and friends are left to mourn the loved one. Impressive funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church in Bentonsport by her pastor, Rev. Butler, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Bentonsport cemetery. She was a sufferer for over two years, but for the last ten months was confined at home the greater part of the time, but to her bed only a few days at a time until the last four days of her life. She was taken worse Sunday morning and was not able to sit up any more. She was conscious until the last. She shook hands with each member of her family, and was a good christian, a good daughter and sister and will and will be missed in the home and in the community, but her loss is her eternal gain. She has gone to her rest.
