Death and Funeral of Miss Myrtle Miller

Myrtle Miller was born January 10th, 1870, in Clark county, Ill. She moved with her parents to Iowa in 1873. Since that time they have lived in Lee or Van Buren counties, with the exception of a brief period when they lived in Missouri. For the last few years they have make [sic] their home in Farmington.

Her father died in September 1892 and was interred in the family lot at Bonaparte.

She was always of rather delicate constitution. Her last illness lasted only three weeks.

The skill of the doctors and the patient ministrations of a loving mother, kindly neighbors and friends, failed to restore her to health.

She fell asleep Friday morning April 24, 1903, aged 33 years, 3 months and 14 days, leaving a widowed mother and a brother to mourn their sad loss.

She was converted in the M. E. church about three years age, a was received on probation but did not join the church. She bore her affliction with patience and rejoiced in hope of eternal life.

The funeral was held at her late home Sunday at 1:00 o'clock and was attended by a large number of friends.

The Baptist choir sang appropriate hymns and Rev. J. Longson gave and address on a text chosen by the mother of the deceased--Paslms [sic] 17:15. "I shall be satisfied when I awake with Thy likeness."

Interment at Bonaparte by the side of her father's remains.

A beautiful ceremony was performed at the grave by friends in Bonaparte. They walked slowly past the grave each placing a beautiful flower on the casket and sang "Nearer my God to Thee."
