GEORGE MICHAEL HENKLE.

Born at Bonaparte, Iowa, August
27, 1876, and died at
Chicago, August 7, 1903.

OBITUARY SKETCH.

George M. Henkle was born at Bonaparte, Iowa, on the 27th of August, 1876. He received his education in the public schools here and is well known to all Bonaparte people who lived her previous to his going to Chicago.

When 16 years of age George began his business career with his father, C. Henkle, who was then in the grocery business. Later he was associate with his father in a restaurant.

In 1896, or about nine years ago, he went to Chicago and took a course of study in a business college. He soon secured a position with the Pullman Palace Car Co. in which place he discharged his duties with great credit to himself until January, 1901, when he accepted a more promising position with the Corn Exchange National Bank of Chicago. Here he received rapid promotion on account of unusual ability and faithful service and at the time of his death was one of the head book keepers in this institution which employs more than 200 clerks.

Friday morning, August 7, he went to work as usual no one knowing that he was at all ill and while attending to his duties at the bank was suddenly stricken with heart failure and before the services of a physician could be secured he had passed away.

The death angel sometimes comes at times when least expected and reaps not only the "bearded grain and the flowers that grow between" but takes man when in the prime of life.

Those left to mourn are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Henkle, and three sisters, Mrs. Jennie M. Hines of Bonaparte, Miss Brooks Henkle and Mrs. C. F. Schneider of Chicago.

Miss Anna Froelich to whom he was engaged to be married was present at the funeral services.

The friends and neighbors of the bereaved family gathered at the home in Bonaparte Sunday at 3 P. M. and funeral services were conducted by Rev. Collier of the M. E. Church. The pall bearers were Clarence Blackburn, Keith Humphryes, Alex. Martin, Clarence Middleton, Louis Saar and Harry Meek.
