CHAUNCEY OLIVER MILLER.
Born in Pennsylvania 75 years ago.

In Somerset Co. Pa., a little more than 75 years ago Chauncey Miller was born. His boyhood was spent in that county and during his youth he showed the same amiable and contented disposition that characterized his after life. At the age of 27, Nov. 8, 1853, he married Miss Mary White and together they removed to Iowa in April of the next year and located in Van Buren Co. In 1861 he enlisted in Co. F 14th Iowa infantry and faithfully served his country for three years. After three years of service he returned to this county where he since resided. He was an active member of the Elias M. Ware Post. Six sons and three daughters came to bless their union, of whom five sons and one daughter are still living. Mr. Miller was a kind hearted gentleman, thoughtful of those about him, striving to do deeds of kindness in un-ostentatious ways.

He united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in 1869, and remained a devout christian until his decease. He was seriously ill but a short time previous to his death which occurred Nov. 6, 1901. The G. A. R. were in charge of the funeral service which took place at 10 A. M. Friday from his late home. He was interred in the White Cemetery.

Following are names of the children who are living near Bonaparte: Mrs. Mary J. Stevens, Robt. H. Miller, Joseph E. Miller, Dayton D. Miller, Norman W. Miller, and Geo. O. Miller.
