Lavina Jane, oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Ervin, was born in McConnolsville, Ohio, December 27th, 1846, and died at her home in Bonaparte, June 1, 1901, aged 54 years, 5 months and 5 days.
With her parents deceased moved to Beverly, Ohio in 1849, and in 1851 they came west and settled in Bonaparte, Iowa, where they since resided.
At the age of sixteen years she was converted and under the pastorate of Rev. Adam Lawback, united with the Methodist Episcopal church, and has been a devout member.
Her sickness was of about five weeks' duration, but at no time did her condition seem alarming until about an hour before her death., which was as peaceful as falling into a deep sleep.
She leaves to mourn her loss her parents, two sisters, Mrs. Kate Brooker, Hutchinson, Kansas, and Mrs. Ella Warway, Mt. Pleasant, Ia., and one brother, John, Davenport, Ia.
The funeral occurred at the family home Sunday, June 2nd, and was conducted by Rev. Rolingson, her pastor. Interment was made in the Bonaparte cemetery.
