Paul L. Kisling

Paul L. Kisling, 62, of Keosauqua died at 1:51 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, in the emergency room of Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua after suffering a heart attack while working on a trenching job in Keosauqua.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with the Rev. Norman Channel officiating. Burial will be in Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua. Open visitatoin will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with family present from 6-8 p.m. Memorials to Fairfield Free Methodist Church or Keosauqua Lions Club may be left at the funeral home or sent to the family at P.O. Box 324, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. Kisling was born July 23, 1937, near Keosauqua, the son of Roy and Evelyn Brown Kisling. He married Colleen Woodrum Nov. 22, 1956, at Fairfield Free Methodist Church.

He graduated from Birmingham High School School and operated Kisling Construction Co. in Keosauqua for more than 40 years. He was a member of Fairfield Free Methodist Church, where he had served in various capacities. He was a past member of Keosauqua Lions Club, a member of Country Lane Apartments board of directors, Van Buren County Board of Review. He was honored as Keosauqua's Citizen of the Year in 1999.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Janice Darnielle of Des Moines and Julie Shipley of Keosauqua; three granddaughters; four brothers, Dwight Kisling of Loveland, Colo., Robert and Charles Kisling, both of Keosauqua, and Dean Kisling of Cedar Rapids; and six sisters, Mildred Bowman of Olathe, Colo., Grace Whitfield of Perry, Fla., Dorothy Manley of Monmouth, Ill., Lola Jewel of Bettendorf, Helen Manley of Omaha, Neb., and Carol Kisling of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant daughters, Joy and Joyce Kisling; and one brother, Carl Kisling.
