Wealtha Lucille Hootman was born July 4, 1907, and passed out of this life on Tuesday morning, May 14, 1918, at the age of 10 years, 10 months and 10 days.
During the entire course of her illness, which lasted more than four months, she was a patient sufferer, never uttering a word of complaint and she was very appreciative of the many acts of kindness and tokens of affection which she received. A short while before her death she said to her parents, "I don't want you to worry about me."
She was the daughter of Chester C. and Ella M. Hootman, who with two brothers, Ira M. of Camp Cody, Deming, New Mexico, and Erwin, still in the home survive her. One brother, Rex, passed away at Fort Madison, Iowa, November 13, 1916.
Besides the family, many relatives and friends remain to grieve for Lucille and to sympathize with the sorrowing family. Lucille was a great lover of the Sunday school and the church, and was always dissappointed(sp) when it seemed impossible for her to attend.
The funeral service was held at the home last Thursday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. J. A. Monkman, pastor of the M. E. church at Keosauqua and interment in the Birmingham cemetery.
