OBITUARY OF MRS. LUCY YARNELL.
Miss Lucy Maddix was born in Holmes County, Ohio, May 5, 1841, died February 17, 1918, at her home in Birmingham, Iowa, aged 76 years, 9 months and 12 days.
She was married to Eli Yarnell, October 22, 1856. To this union were born seven children: Mrs. Thomas Horn of Douds, Iowa; Miss Mamie Grimes of Fairfield, Iowa; Mrs. Davisson of Selma, Iowa; Frank Yarnell of Douds; Loyd and Ed Yarnell of Birmingham; Mrs. Deb Cramer of Canton, Ill. She has two brothers living, Joseph Maddix of Libertyville, and Jacob Maddix of Ottumwa, the latter being sick and could not attend the funeral.
After the death of Mrs. Yarnell's husband she was msrried(sp) to Wm. Bennett, who preceeded(sp) her in death. To this union two children were born: Eva Lawson of Birmingham and Willis Bennett, who died in 1882, at the age of 2 years.
She has twenty-nine living grandchildren; Three grandchildren are in the U.S. service; Verne Lawson at Deming, N.M.: Roy Cramer somewhere in France, and Bob Cramer at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, Mo.
Mrs. Yarnell was a member of the Methodist church from girlhood. She took her letter out of the Birmingham M.E. church when she moved from here and neglected to replace it. She was very anxious to keep her children in the Sunday school. She was always thoughtful of her neighbors and glad to help them in their sickness. Her influence will be long felt among her relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. W.J. Fowler. The pall-bearers were her three sons Frank, Lloyd and Ed, Earl Shott, Rank Colton and T. Crane.
**Note: I research the LAWSON lineage.**
