Obituary of W.T. Elliott.
W.T.Elliott, living about five miles west of Fairfield, died Thursday morning, February 28, 1918, after an illness of about two weeks with pneumonia, although he had been in poor health the most of the winter. He was the son of Thomas and Eleanor Elliott, and was born March 1, 1854, in Ohio. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1872. In a short time both parents died, leaving a family of six children, the most of them quite young.
For a number of years they lived north of Birmingham with their uncle William Elliott. Later they moved to Kansas and took up some land, remaining there a number of years. Will and his brother James returned to Iowa, which has been his home, for the past ten years living in Jefferson county.
On March 8, 1892, he was united in marriage with Miss Sadie Layton. To this union were born two sons. Harry and Clarence, who with the wife are left to mourn his departure. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Henry Henn of Paris, Ill.; Mrs. Anna Hutchison and Mrs. Mary Ross of Smith Center, Kansas; also one brother James of Birmingham.
The funeral was held in the Christian church in Fairfield on Saturday, March 2nd, at 2:30 o'clock, in charge of Elder W.K. Smith of the Seventh Day Adventist church of Farmington, Will being a consictent(sp) member of that faith for a number of years. The body was interred in the Evergreen cemetery at Fairfield.
