Sampson Lunsford,84, of Wyaconda, Missouri, died early Wednesday morning, August 25, 1982, following an extended illness.

He was born July 27, 1898, the son of Jim and Helena (Eller) Lunsford. His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.

On October 8, 1935, he was united in marriage to Frances Marie McLeland of Milton, Iowa, at Moberly, Missouri. To this union one son, Thomas Earl, was born.

He is survived by his wife, Frances; son, Tom, and wife, Pam; two grandsons, Thomas Earl, Jr. and Randy James; two brothers, Wesley and Bernard; one sister, Parolea; several sisters and brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews, and cousins.

He was a member of the Wyaconda Christian Church and was an honorary deacon at the time of death, having served as a deacon for almost 48 years.

Funeral services were held at the Wyaconda Christian Church, August 28th, 1982. Rev. E. Emerson Brokaw officiated. Organist was Phyllis Hutchinson.

Arrangements by Payne-Gerth of Memphis. Body bearers were Lindley Egbert, Oral Currier, Chester Smith, Clifford Justice, Joe Humes, and Sanny Mathes. Honorary body bearers were Wesley Knupp, John Barber, Wiliam Homedale, George Shibley and Jim Murphy. Burial was in the Sunny Side Cemetery, Milton, Iowa.
