MRS. W. T. ATWOOD

Mrs. W. T. Atwood passed away at the Jefferson county hospital Saturday morning, March 5, 1943, at 5 o’clock following a nine weeks illness of pneumonia and heart trouble.

Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church of Birmingham Monday afternoon, March 8, at 2:00 o’clock conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. C. Irvine. Burial in Evergreen cemetery at Fairfield.

Loressa Jane Wilson was born in Peoria county, Illinois, August 17, 1866, and died March 6, 1943, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 11 days.

She was married to Wylie T. Atwood March 21, 1894, near Chatworth, Ill., and to them were born six children; five of whom are living, together with her husband. They are Irwin of Packwood, Iowa, Harold of Glasgow, Iowa, Wilson of Birmingham, Iowa, Alice of Washington, D. C. and Mrs. Evelyn Clampitt of Johnston Station, Iowa. One daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Baldwin, preceded her mother in death in 1935, leaving her new twin boys, Johnny and Jerry, whom Mrs. Atwood took into their home and has cared for them their entire life of more than seven years.

She is also survived by two brothers, S. M. Wilson of Chicago, and Erwin Wilson of Bedford, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. H. A. Mitchell of Piper City, Ill., and ten grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Miss Susie Wilson in 1935 and Miss Anna B. Wilson in 1942.

She was a teacher in the Illinois public schools for a number of years before her marriage.

She united with the United Presbyterian church of Piper City, Ill., in young womanhood, transferring her membership to the Presbyterian church of Fairfield when moving to Iowa and thence to Birmingham where she held her membership at the time of her death.

She lived a consistent Christian life and was devoted to her church, her home and her family. She also gave her twin grandsons the very best of care. Truly a good woman has gone to her reward.
