OBITUARY
Rachel Vorhees was born in Zanesville, Ohio, April 2nd, 1829, and died at her home with her daughters, in Bonaparte June 8, 1901, aged 72 years, 2 months, and 6 days.
She was united in marriage to Noah Caldwell Aug. 2, 1846, he having died in 1877. To this union twelve children were born, eight of whom survive to mourn their loss of 'Mother'. Four sisters also survive her, two sisters and four brothers preceding her to the world beyond. She also leaves ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends who will sadly miss her.
She united with the Methosist(sic) church at the age of fourteen and was yet a consistent member when death overtook her.
Her Christian life and character has bneen such that she has left her survivors the comforting hope and assurance that mother is safe; for, while present in the body and absent from Jesus, she is now absent from the body and present with Jesus.
A short service was held at her late home conducted by Rev. J. L. Ayrault, after which the funeral cortege proceeded to Salem where the M.E. pastor conducted services and interment occurred.
