ERNEST BEARD
Ernest Beard, son of Singleton and Louisiana Hogan Beard was born on a farm near Revere, Mo., Jan. 16, 1872, and passed away at his home in Farmington March 20, 1935, after less than two hours illness.
When he was five years old his father passed away and for the next eight years he made his home with his uncle, Samuel Beard of Revere, Mo. His mother precedd him in death on Jan. 7, 1903. His twin sister, Mrs. Mate Dunlap died in April 1909.
On Sept. 24, 1903, he was united in marriage to Mary Cross, daughter of Dr. Cross of Farmington, and since then they have made their home in Farmington, except for a short time while traveling for Mr. Beard's health.
He loved the farm and has always lived there as that was his loved profession.
He leaves to mourn his departure his devoted wife, three sisters, Mrs. Van Johnson and Mrs. C. S. Johnson of Revere, Mo., and Mrs. Tom Painter of Delmont, Colo., three double cousins, J. B. Beard, Bruce Beard and Mrs. Tom Moore of Revere, with whom he lived the eight years in his uncle's home and who were to him as brothers and sisters. Also a number of other cousins and several nieces and nephews, besides a host of friends. He loved children and was very fond of his nieces and nephews and their children.
He was a believer in Christ but not a professer of religion, nor a member of any church. He was a good neighbor and a good citizen, one who will be missed by all who knew him.
