OBITUARY

Floyd James Hamm was born February 15, 1902, in the same community in which he resided ever since. He departed this earthly life on August 3rd, 1927, at the University Hospital at Iowa City after an illness of five days.

On August 6th, 1922, he was married to Reva Birchmier and to this union was born one child, Hazel Pauline.

At the early age of 25 years, 5 months and 18 days he leaves to mourn their loss his wife and child, his father and mother, his three brothers and one sister all of whom live in this state, Everett of Knoxville, Henry of Fontanelle; Mrs. Mae Bingaman of Des Moines, and Clayton of Iowa City.

To know him was to like him and having lived in this community all his life he has made many friends 2who will miss him deeply. His kind unselfish disposition was in itself enough to win the hearts of those who knew him. Always making the most of others good qualities he had no time to look for their faults. His friendships have been lasting ones because they were based upon that most essential sincerity. He scorned to be anything but frank and honest and thos[sic] he became a true and valued friend. We cannot think of him without recalling his bright smiles and ready humor. Life was very sweet to him but he met his last days of pain with that same uncomplaining patience that was so characteristic of him.

He was a true friend, a loving brother, a dutiful son and a kind and loving husband and father.

You have only gone before us
We shall join you one by one
We shall miss you oh how sadly
Ere our space of life is done.
But your mem’ry we shall treasure
As we travel on life’s way
And soon in heaven we’ll join you
“Our Lord know best” we’ll say.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. F. A. Moore, pastor, at the Troy M. E. church Friday afternoon.
